Name

Angus Vincent

Angus Vincent graduated in 1992 with a Bachelor of Science from the University of Adelaide and a Bachelor of Applied Science in Physiotherapy in 1996 from the University of South Australia.

Angus is the Director of Performance Physio Group at Pimlico, North Ward, Ayr and Ingham (formerly SportsMed Angus Vincent and Associates).

Under Angus’ directorship, all physiotherapists at Performance Physio Group are committed to an “outcome and results focus” for patient treatments and plans. The multi-disciplinary team focus on “hands-on” therapy and an active approach to rehabilitation. These are things Angus is dedicated to encouraging with the team and patients.

Angus has a keen interest in all sports and actively participates in triathlons. Angus has been professionally involved with many sporting teams (local and international) over his 20 year career.  Angus has been involved as a team physiotherapist for the Townsville Blackhawks, Brothers Rugby League and DanceNorth.

Tamara Purcell (nee. Hillier)

      Tamara graduated with the first cohort of physio students through James Cook University in 2008 and began working with SportsMed/Performance Group in January 2009.

      Tamara was the Senior Physiotherapist at the Mater Hospital in Townsville for more than 7 years. She enjoyed working in all areas of the acute setting, but has a particular interest in Orthopaedics. She runs Orthopaedic programs such as pre-joint replacement education class and routinely reviews patients following a variety of Orthopaedic surgeries.

      Tamara also has a keen interest in Lymphoedema management and Women’s Health and Paediatrics. Her further training in this field was completed at the Lymphoedema Academy of Australia, the Women’s Health Training Association (Sydney) and APA Paediatrics Level 1. She can assist with a variety of problems including incontinence, ante and post natal issues, sexual problems, pelvic pain, bladder disorders and prolapse.

      In the past Tamara has assisted at JCU with tutoring the 2nd and 3rd year cardiorespiratory subjects. She was also the primary educator for 3rd and 4th year students at the Mater Hospital for 6 years. She finds the teaching aspect very rewarding seeing the growth in students over time.

Connor Irvine

Connor graduated from James Cook University in 2011 with a Bachelor Degree of Physiotherapy and has been with Performance Physio Group since his graduate year in 2012.

Connor has a keen interest in chronic pain, sports injuries and post-operative rehabilitation.

Connor has previously worked as the physiotherapist for the Townsville Brolgas and Brothers Rugby Union senior squads. He has a sporting background, playing both rugby union and touch football.

Connor has completed post graduate courses in sports physiotherapy (level 1 and 2), dry needling and functional strength and conditioning as well as further study in interest areas such as the lumbar spine and pelvis and tendinopathies.

Connor believes both a hands-on approach combined with a self-driven exercise program achieves the best outcomes for his injured patients.

Paul Young

Paul Young graduated from James Cook University with a bachelor of physiotherapy in 2013. He is currently working full time in our Pimlico clinic.

Since graduating Paul has worked in multiple sectors of physiotherapy including acute hospital, private practice, sporting and aged care facilities. Now as a full time clinician he is particularly enthusiastic about post surgical rehab and sporting injuries.

Paul has a keen interest in all sports, especially rugby union, rugby league and touch football. He is a level 1 sports physiotherapist and has been involved with the Townsville Blackhawks and Brothers rugby union as a team physiotherapist.

Alex Beere

Alex Beere graduated from James Cook University in 2011 with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy.

Since graduating, Alex has worked in private practice and hospitals in Townsville. Alex has a keen interest in all sports and musculoskeletal injuries, as well as hydrotherapy, dry needling and manual therapies.

Special interests include; sports physiotherapy, dry needling, cardiorespiratory physio, soccer, cricket and rugby.

Mathew Mee

Mathew Mee graduated from James Cook University with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy in 2013.

Since graduating, Mathew has worked primarily in private practice at our Pimlico clinic, however has also worked in a hospital, in aged care facilities and with sporting clubs. Mathew has worked as the team physiotherapist for local rugby union and soccer clubs.

Mathew has a keen interest in musculoskeletal physiotherapy and orthopaedic rehabilitation, and has completed further courses in dry needling, lower back pain management, shoulder injuries and has completed his level 1 sports physiotherapist course

Brooke Williams

Senior Physiotherapist

Brooke is a New Zealand qualified Physiotherapist who graduated in 2007 from Auckland University of Technology.

Brooke has worked primarily in private practice dealing a lot with sports teams (rugby union, rugby league, NZ tag and netball) but has also spent several years in a Hospital setting in triage, general medical, elective orthopaedic and older adult’s rehabilitation wards.

In her spare time Brooke plays netball for the Samoan National netball team, competing at World Cup level. She is also a member of the Inaugural Northern Rays netball team in the Sapphire series and plays locally for the Highlanders Netball club.

Hidemi Urano

Hidemi graduated from Australian Catholic University in 2014 with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy.

Hidemi is working in between Townsville and Magnetic Island and has a keen interest in musculoskeletal rehabilitation in the general population, injury prevention and healthy aging.

Hidemi has completed further training and has a keen interest in Sports physiotherapy (Level 1 APA), Gerontology physiotherapy (level 1), Parkinson’s Disease (PD Warrior) Pilates (Level 1) and Tai Chi for Arthritis.

Chris Stanger

Chris is a Townsville local who graduated from James Cook University in 2012 with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy.

Chris has spent the past 9 years working at a sports focused private practice in Cairns. He has experience working with the Northern Pride RLC, Cairns Taipans and local AFL clubs.

Chris works full time out of the Townsville Family Medical Centre and Ayr clinics. Chris has a keen interest in sporting injuries particularly Cricket, orthopaedic rehabilitation and strength and conditioning. Chris has further training in sports (level one and two), dry needling and strength and conditioning (ASCA level one). Chris has a strong emphasis on a combination of hands on therapy, patient education and exercise prescription.

Chris is a keen sportsman who plays Cricket locally and at a representative level.

Courtney Franks

Courtney grew up in regional NSW where she completed a Bachelor of Physiotherapy at Charles Sturt University in 2020. Courtney has clinical experiences in public hospitals, musculoskeletal clinics and hydrotherapy.  She moved to Townsville at the start of 2021 and worked briefly with NDIS patients in the community.

Courtney has a keen interest in paediatrics, sports physiotherapy, neurological physiotherapy and musculoskeletal injuries. She enjoy playing netball and water polo as well as baking in her spare time.

Nicole Sorbello

Nicole graduated James Cook University in 2011 with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy.

A North Queensland local, Nicole has worked in a variety of clinical areas including musculoskeletal, orthopaedic rehabilitation, aged care, acute hospital and neurological rehabilitation. She has a keen interest in women’s health, clinical Pilates, oncology rehabilitation and lymphoedema.

Nicole has completed post graduate training as a Lymphoedema Practitioner, completing her training through Lymphoedema Education Solutions in 2013. She has experience in pre and post oncology, early diagnosis and management of lymphoedema and long term oedema management. Nicole is able to assist with garment prescription, ordering and fitting.

As a mother herself and following training for APA Level 1 Women’s Health Through the Life Stages, Nicole is passionate about helping women live their best life

Lizzy Hore

Lizzy graduated from James Cook University in 2015 with a Bachelor Degree of Physiotherapy. Lizzy has largely worked in Private Practice, but has also worked at at the Mater Hospital.

  • Clinical Pilates

Lizzy recently completed a 350-hour Yoga Teacher Training with Live and Breathe Yoga. Lizzy understands the importance of the mind-body connection when recovering from injury, as well as with general health and wellbeing from her training and own experience. The awareness and understanding of your body and yourself you can build from mindful movement is a powerful tool to develop.

Lizzy enjoys reading with her book club, running training with her mates to participate in various running races all over Australia, and yoga and meditation. Lizzy can’t wait to travel overseas again to experience different cultures and environments.

Lizzy is keen to meet you and work together to reach your goals whatever they may be.

Mitchell Clarke

Mitchell is a new grad Physio in his first year after graduating from JCU Townsville. So far Mitchell has enjoyed working with a variety of conditions ranging from chronic pain and neurological impairments to sporting injuries.

Mitchell’s in Physiotherapy began through a childhood of enjoying playing sports such as rugby league, rugby union, swimming and gym.

Whilst completing his studies, Mitchell gained experience as a sports trainer, supervising rugby union, league, field hockey and various other sports.

Mitchell’s weekends revolve around football as a player for the North Ward Old Boys Rugby Club plus he enjoys spending time at the strand, catching up with friends and playing with his dog, Winnie.

Jared Evans

Jared is a Townsville local who joined Performance Physio Group in 2023 following his graduation from JCU in 2022.

Jared had the opportunity to work in a variety of clinical settings including rural and metropolitan hospitals, department of education, and musculoskeletal clinics throughout his time at university. He developed a keen interest in orthopaedic rehabilitation, sports physiotherapy, and neurological physiotherapy.

Jared spent his youth playing rugby league and has since been involved with the Brothers League Club as a team physio.

Mitchell Seri

Co-Director Performance Physio Group – Ingham

Mitchell is a born and bred Ingham local who joined Performance Physio Group (formally SportsMed), in January 2009 after graduating from JCU with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy in 2008.  He started working in Ingham part time in April 2009 and is now practicing full time in Ingham. Mitchell is one of the co-owner/director of Performance Physio Group Ingham along with Angus Vincent.

Mitchell has a keen interest in musculoskeletal physiotherapy and has achieved success in a wide range of musculoskeletal disorders.  Mitchell applies a combination of hands on manual therapy, dry needling, electrotherapy and an active approach to rehabilitation with individualised exercise programs to obtain optimum results.

Mitchell is an approachable, friendly, family man with an active presence in the community and looks forward to delivering quality physiotherapy services to the Ingham community.

Katherine Shepherd

Katherine Shepherd (B.Pthy) Graduated from JCU in 2015

• Women’s Health

Katherine completed her Level 1 and 2 Introductory Training under Women’s Health Training Associates (WHTA) in 2016. She is skilled in the provision of physiotherapy services for bladder/bowel dysfunction (including incontinence and prolapse) and pelvic pain specific to Women’s Health in addition to pre/post-natal care.

• Lymphoedema

In 2020, Katherine became an Accredited Lymphoedema Clinician with the Australasian Lymphology Association (ALA). She is qualified in the treatment of lymphoedema presentations through manual lymphatic drainage, bandaging, compression garment fittings and product recommendations, and exercise prescription.

• Gerontology

Katherine completed her Gerontology Physiotherapy Level 1 qualification in 2016 through the Australian Physiotherapy Association (APA). She provides regular physiotherapy services to most nursing homes within the Hinchinbrook region.

• General musculoskeletal injury

Operating in a rural area throughout her entire career has afforded Katherine exposure to the presentation and treatment of both simple and complex musculoskeletal conditions. She is an advocate for client centred rehabilitation, and will ensure that treatment is specific to you and your needs. Katherine is also qualified in the provision of Dry Needling services.

• Group Classes

Qualified in 2016 with both Level 1 and 2 Pilates mat work certificates, Katherine runs weekly group Pilates classes out of our Ingham clinic. She has also secured partnership with the Hinchinbrook Shire Council to provide FREE pilates classes to the community once a month.

Katherine operates our weekly group hydrotherapy classes up in Ingham every Wednesday at 9 am. She also offers private sessions for those requiring more individualised programs in a quieter setting.

Caitlin Holmes

Physiotherapist

Caitlin graduated from James Cook University with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy in 2022. Born and raised in the Burdekin, Caitlin spends most of her days working at our Ayr clinic, but also touches base at our Pimlico clinic on Friday.

Caitlin has a keen interest in working with children and wishes to broaden her knowledge and expand the services available for this demographic. She is also interested in sports, having previously done sports training and currently plays Rugby Union for the Burdekin ladies team.
